Prior to founding Clearlake and since 2013. Chetan's focus has been on investments and asset management of multifamily,office and hotel properties completing nine investments. During this time he also served as Chief Investment Officer of Songy HighRoads ,a privately held real estate firm.
From 2010 to 2013, he was President & CEO of IDFC Real Estate Investments and IDFC International (Singapore affiliate of IDFC Ltd., a $6 bn publicly listed diversified financial services company) based in Singapore. He founded and led the formation of real estate private equity investment business and invested $200 million in acquiring 2.3 million s.f. portfolio of office properties. He was responsible for all aspects of the business as well as for all regulatory, operations, finance and compliance functions of Singapore office for off-shore securities, investment banking and private equity businesses.
From 2006 to 2010, he was the founding CEO of SUN-AREA Real Estate Advisors in Mumbai (then, an affiliate of Apollo Global Management). At $630 million, it was the largest real estate private equity fund in India and largest first time real estate fund raised by Apollo. In his role he was responsible for raising the fund, recruiting and forming the team, formulating and executing the investment strategy, developing relationships with national and regional developers and establishing the business in India. He was also responsible for oversight of acquisitions team, finance, asset management, on-shore and offshore compliance, risk management and investor reporting.
From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Davé was the Chief Investment Officer at the Houston based Transwestern where he led a national principal investment and development business. He was responsible for growing the development pipeline from $30million to over $500 million. He raised equity and debt capital totaling over $250mm for industrial, retail and office projects across several markets. He was instrumental in acquiring a Washington-based development firm and leading the largest retail development project by the firm.
From 1997 to 2004, he was a Principal with JPMorgan Partners in New York focusing on private equity and real estate investments throughout United States. He was involved in real estate investments valued at over $1.2 billion which included multifamily, office, medical office, student housing, self-storage, hotel and retail. He was member of Investment Committee of $850 million Peabody Global Real Estate Fund which invested in US, Europe, LatAm and Asia.
Prior to joining the financial services sector, he was a practicing architect in US and designed numerous commercial and institutional projects in eastern United States. He has served as a Board member of several investee companies. He is former member of Urban Land Institute and member of Executive Committee of ULI South Asia Chapter. He is a past member of Board of Trustees of American School of Bombay, American Institute of Architects, Pension Real Estate Association and Executive Committee, ULI Houston District Council.
Chétan has a Diploma in Architecture from CEPT University., Ahmedabad, India; Master of Architecture and Urban Design from Washington University, St. Louis, USA; and has completed his MBA from Columbia Business School, Columbia University, New York.
